Why We Need the Second Amendment
I was having a conversation with one of my left leaning friends and we started talking about gun control.
My friend is not a supporter of the second amendment. His position was that all AR-15’s and assault rifles should be banned and gotten rid of because “no one needs those kind of guns”.
So I asked him what he thought about California trying to secede from the union and form it’s own country. He thought they should be allowed to do that if they want.
Me: “What if they actually do try to secede from the union and President Trump decides to send in the Army to stop them and keep them as part of the United States, would you want the citizens of California to have AR-15s and other “assault” weapons to defend themselves?”
His response: “Well of course!”
There were a few seconds of silence as my friend realized he was now a supporter of the second amendment.
