Gun Safety in the Car

Tactical Boot Holster

The main reason I switched to an ankle holster was safety, especially in a car. When I carried in my waistband I would get in the car and it would poke me in my back or side and make for an uncomfortable ride. I would take my pistol out and set it on the seat next to me or in between the seat and the center console.

Doesn’t seem like a big deal until I would forget about it, get out of the car and leave it. Now I’m walking around without my pistol. But the biggest problem was my son getting in the car and finding the pistol or another child finding it, and that could be bad news. He was still very young and I was always very strict on gun safety but you never know with a toddler. It just wasn’t worth it. So I opted for an ankle holster. I could get in and out of the car with it and not feel like I needed to take it off. I felt like it was a good trade off for the accessibility of  carrying in my waistband and whenever I know I’m going to be some where shady, I just put it in my pocket.
